I stepped into mental health counseling after realizing that lived experience can be an asset in this field. In fact, I would hazard to say that helping others with context for their experiences can be a useful tool. I will work with you by meeting you where you are, supporting the moment, rather than building expectations and setting improbable goals. You will teach me what you need, you are the expert on you, and I will be learning about you as we go.
Using a person centered approach, incorporating aspects of DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), mindfulness, and sometimes coregulation of movement I will hold the space for you to process and work forward. I also tend to be straight forward, and speak plainly, and collaboratively.
I hold a Master of Science in Psychology from SOU (2007) in Ashland, and worked in community mental health for my internship years. Since then I've fostered a practice of inclusion, and open my books freely to support gender affirming care, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, men's mental health, and menopause concerns for AFAB folx.
