what to expect

Once you have made contact with us we will send out an intake packet that can be completed online without printing anything.

When you arrive to your counseling appointment the documents will already be signed and you can spend more time on therapy. We see everyone weekly until graduation.

A concentrated amount of therapy in a short amount of time is more effective than doing a little therapy over a long time. We save the same time slot each week for each person.

We are in-network with:
PacificSource Health Plans, PacificSource Community Solutions, Medicaid (Open Card), HealthShare of Oregon, Columbia Pacific, Jackson Care Connect, Trillium, Providence, United Healthcare, First Choice, Aetna, Moda, and Cigna.

If your primary insurance is any of these, then you usually are responsible for the co-pay and/or deductible depending on your insurance plan. This is generally the same amount you pay for an office visit with other providers.

If your primary insurance is not any of the above, then we are out-of-network with your insurance. Our out-of-network insurance process works by collecting fees at the time of each session, we provide you with a super bill for you to submit to your insurance company, and your insurance will send the percentage of the session they cover directly to you. With private insurance carriers, in most cases, you will find that you are responsible for 50% of the cost of your counseling sessions after your deductible is met. We accept VISA, MC, Discover and American Express cards which we will place on file to charge after each session. We also have a program for those who have Medicare (therapy only) as well as a sliding scale for those who are unable to pay.

frequently asked questions

Will you give me advise or tell me what to do?

A good therapist doesn’t give advice or tell you what to do. Our popular media often projects some of the worst examples of therapy. Our therapists don’t give advice or tell you what to do in your life. Therapy is a safe place to share your thoughts, concerns, and ideas where you’re free from being judged or told what to do. Therapists use their training and experience to help you discover, restore and empower yourself.

How do I find a good therapist?

Finding a good therapist is not always easy. No one therapist is a match for every client. You need to find a therapist who makes you feel at ease and free to share whatever is on your mind. Checking your therapist’s background (schooling, licensure, supervision, and so on) can help ensure you find a therapist who is a good fit for you.

How often should I come to therapy?

We recommend weekly appointments, especially towards the beginning of therapy. It is more effective to do a lot of therapy in a shorter amount of time than to do a little therapy over a longer period of time.

How long will it take before I feel better?

Therapy is a science, but it’s not an exact science. No timetable exists to predict how quickly you will see results. However, talking about your concerns is the fastest and most effective way to address them. Periodically, we will review your progress in therapy and determine any remaining challenges standing between you and your goals.

What can I expect when I am referred to Brightways?

Your PCP will place the referral to set up a meeting with a Bright Psych consultant.  They will work with you to find the best fit, discuss what to expect in treatment, and complete paperwork.

When do I see the provider?

Typically, within a few days or weeks once the referral has been made.  Bright Psych strives to have rapid access to care.

How long does treatment typically last?

Providers offer weekly appointments in the beginning to help titrate medications.  The visits will then get spaced out to every other week, and then once a month.  Once the client has been stabilized on medications, a conversation will then take place with the PCP to see if they are comfortable taking over medication management, or if their preference is to have the client continue to see here.

When are my medications refilled?

At the time of the appointment. If you miss an appointment, please call 541-904-5216 to reschedule as soon as possible.

What happens if I also need therapy?

Bright Psych has partnered with Brightways Counseling Group to offer either in person or virtual therapy sessions.
