“Children do learn what they live. Then they grow up to live what they’ve learned.” This message by Dorothy Nolte reflects the experiences I have had working with both children and adults who have experienced childhood trauma. We initially learn about relationships with others from our caregivers. In this way, positive parenting techniques as well as cyclic trauma can be generational. However, one thing that I have found to be true through my experiences working with children and families in various settings is that parents want their children to feel loved, seen, and valued. Caregivers are the experts on their children, and in partnering with them, I aim to provide an environment that encourages multi-generational healing, compassionate reflection, and authentic connection.

My approach is rooted largely in Attachment Theory and Systems Theory. Every individual deserves a therapeutic experience that is molded to meet their needs, so I utilize a variety of modalities including Child-Centered Play Therapy, Synergetic Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My goal is to allow the individual to take the lead in the therapy room so they may play and move through their lived experiences with my support.

My educational background includes a Master of Social Work with a focus in Family Systems from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Sciences with a focus in Child Development from Oregon State University. With a professional background in Early Childhood Education, I have an ongoing passion for working with young children and their caregivers to strengthen their relationships, develop positive communication and coping strategies, and increase overall wellness within the family unit.
